Annual dinner before sign-ups begin for 96th season of Ramona

■ By Stacey Bailey / Contributed The Ramona Bowl will be hosting their annual President’s Dinner on Friday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Maze Stone restaurant at the Soboba Country club. The annual dinner will announce the 2019 season cast for the production of “Ramona.” This is the 96th season of the Ramona Pageant and they will be honoring the Arias Troubadours who have played for every season since 1924. The dinner cost is $55 per person. There will be a silent auction and the honoring of volunteers who have been part of the pageant for over 50 seasons. The Ramona Bowl has already introduced their new Alessandro, Eli Santana, at the Christmas parade. Kayla Contreras is once again playing the title role of Ramona. Besides the two of them, all of the speaking parts will be announced at the dinner on Friday. Signups for the 96th season of Ramona will be held starting on Saturday, Jan 19, at 9 a.m. at the Ramona Bowl. Parts are available for children as Rock Indians and for the roles of the Rancho and Village children. For adults, the parts include Atmosphere and Spanish Dancers. For those who wish to work behind the scenes there are also jobs available for ushers, gift shop employees, and set workers that will assist with cushions, props, costumes, makeup, etc. Anyone from the public is welcome to be part of the pageant this year. Minors will need an adult to sign a permission form to participate. Tickets are already on sale for this year’s pageant: March 16 at 1 p.m. - Snow bird performance April 13-14, April 27-28, and May 4-5 at 3:30 p.m. Gates open at 1:30 p.m. Ticket prices – for the lower level: $32 for all ages; locals: $20; upper level pricing: $32 for adults; $29 for seniors 62 and up; $19 for children 12 and under.
