Arizona man leaves behind a wife and two sons
■ Chronicle News Staff A 43-year-old drag racer from Litchfield Park, Ariz., was killed Friday, March 22, at the annual races of the Southern California Sand Drag Association held in San Jacinto at 23333 Soboba Road, according to authorities. Marcus Norris died within minutes of the 2:45 p.m. crash after his dragster went off the end of the track, over a berm, and overturned in a dry wash, according to the California Highway Patrol. Bystanders said his engine continued to run following the incident. The crash happened on the first of three days of Sand Drag racing and shut down activities for the remainder of Friday. Services for Norris were scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Lighthouse Fellowship Church in Litchfield Park, a suburb of Phoenix. Norris is survived by his wife, Esther Norris, his two sons, Noah and Ezra, his mother, Lori, stepfather, Felix, stepsister Chelsea Mansene, his father, Pat, and his sister, Lea.
