Parent company of Hemet and Menifee Valley medical centers expands its reach nationwide

■ Chronicle News Staff Southern California-based KPC Health has announced the acquisition of seven of Promise Healthcare’s long-term acute-care hospitals and two skilled-nursing facilities located in Kansas, Utah, Mississippi, Arizona, Louisiana, and Texas, including northwest Dallas. KPC Health is part of The KPC Group, which lists the Hemet Valley and Menifee Valley medical centers among its interconnected healthcare facilities. “Our vision is to create a fully integrated national healthcare system offering access to advanced, quality care,” says Dr. Kali P. Chaudhuri, chairman of The KPC Group and KPC Health. “This acquisition is a major step forward in adding a multi-state network of ancillary facilities to our chain of hospitals and medical groups.” Chaudhuri resides in Hemet, is well-known in the area, and is active in many local real estate projects. This acquisition adds valuable assets and intellectual property to KPC, and we look forward to integrating these facilities into our growing nationwide healthcare system.” KPC Health owns and operates a group of integrated healthcare delivery systems consisting of acute care hospitals, independent physician associations, medical groups, and various fully integrated multi-specialty medical facilities. KPC Health’s current system of hospitals includes seven full-service acute care hospitals located throughout southern California. The KPC Group recently announced it also has bid to acquire four other California hospitals owned by Verity Health Systems including: St. Vincent Medical Center, Los Angeles; St. Francis Medical Center, Lynwood; Seton Medical Center, Daly City, and Seton Coastside (managed by Seton Medical Center) in Moss Beach. The acquisition of the four hospitals is expected to be completed within six months. The resulting purchase will position Chaudhuri and the KPC Group among the largest privately owned healthcare providers in the western United States. Since the KPC Group took over Hemet Valley Medical Center, it has implemented a number of initiatives including a new nursing program, internship and residency programs, a cardiac center, and a forthcoming cancer center. Its new emergency room is considered a leader in the state.
