Our longtime Valley Chronicle sports writer, Corey Evan, is moving up in the world of journalism and has taken a news editor’s position in Highland, Calif. beginning in April. While Corey may continue to file occasional articles, his departure leaves a vacancy on the sports desk at The Valley Chronicle that must be filled.
The part-time position of sports writer/editor will include attending high-school and college sports events in Hemet and San Jacinto, writing weekly articles on deadline, taking action photos of athletes in play, interviewing coaches and players, and keeping track of local sports team standings.
Opportunities for other types of writing exist. Applicants should have some experience as a player or coach in high school sports, have a talent for writing, be committed to meeting deadlines, be available on weekend days to cover games, and be able to use a single-lens reflex camera. To apply, stop by the Chronicle office at 135 E. Florida Ave., Hemet, and complete an application or send a cover letter and resume to: editor@thevalleychronicle.com or jobs@thevalleychronicle.com.
