Hours Changed for Jurupa Valley Shelter
Riverside County’s animal shelter in Jurupa Valley changed the hours of operation today and ap_x0002_pointments will not be nec_x0002_essary for morning adop_x0002_tions. The new hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the West_x0002_ern Riverside County/City Animal Shelter, located at 6851 Van Buren Blvd., Juru_x0002_pa Valley. Previously, the morning hours were reserved for those seeking to adopt and had scheduled an appoint_x0002_ment.
Now walk-ins are welcomed. Walk-in services include: adoptions, stray pet turn_x0002_ins, pet-owner reunions and licensing. Please note: The appoint_x0002_ment process remains for spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations and microchip requests. “These changes will help us serve our pet owners – and would-be adopters – more efficiently,” said Kim Youngberg, a program chief overseeing shelter adminis_x0002_tration.
“We had been operating with the COVID-19 virus still in our midst and some of the restrictions put in place were done to protect em_x0002_ployees and the public,” she said. “But we believe the county is trending in the right direction with vaccinations and lowered positivity rates. It’s time our hours reflect a more welcoming approach.”
