The Valley Chronicle - I-15 Preventative Bridge Maintenance Devore Heights

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting the public that construction contractors will begin to work on the $1.67 M project on Interstate 15 (I-15) in San Bernardino County at Devore Heights near junction Interstate 215 (I-215). The purpose of the project is to perform preventive bridge maintenance work which includes furnishing polyester concrete overlay, replacing joint seals, and removing unsound concrete.

Constructions signs are now placed throughout the project area. Work operations will occur on Interstate 15 at Devore Heights near Junction Interstate 215. Project work is expected to be complete by Winter 2025. All work is weather and material dependent.

What to Expect: Nighttime work with connector closures, ramp closures, alternating lane closures and shoulder closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Weekend night work may occasionally be required from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Expect traffic delays as traffic control will be in the work areas. Commuter access and detours remain as work requires temporary lane closures at various points along the route. CMS signs and construction signs will be available for directing commuters toward detour routes during closures. Signage will be placed on the interstate to alert drivers of upcoming work zones. Plan-ahead and please be mindful of work area signage as law enforcement will enforce applicable laws and regulations. Please proceed cautiously as work vehicles and crews may move in and out of shoulder areas.

Construction crews will continue the nighttime work activities at southbound I-15 near Devore Heights. The work activities of strengthening bridge decks with placing joint seals on the bridge concrete and smoothing out the road conditions on I-15 will occur night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on both Tuesday (01/06) and Thursday (01/08).

• SB Route 15 Truck bypass lane connector closure to SB Route 15 at Devore Heights

• On-ramp closure at Kenwood Ave to SB Route 15

• Alternating lane closures at NB Route 15 at Devore Heights

• Connector closure at NB Route 15 to SB Route 215

• Ramp closure at Devore Rd at NB Route 15

• Detour available at Devore Rd from NB Route 215

• Detours available at Glen Helen Pkwy from NB Route 15

All work is dependent on contractor receiving proper materials for each job function. It can be changed or canceled at any time. All work is weather permitting.
